A patent application must be filed so that the Patent Office can consider the merits of your invention before granting a patent.
A patent attorney is skilled in drafting the patent application. Together with the staff of a patent law firm, the patent attorney is able to handle all aspects of the application process. This includes preparing the application and making the initial filing at the USPTO. During examination, the patent attorney can respond to requests from the Examiner for clarification.
The Patent Office Examiner may also reject your application. A patent attorney is skilled at marking arguments on the merits of the invention to the Examiner on behalf of the inventor.
